Shortest distance travelling to Debdale Park to play Midlands opponents Sherwood Wolfhunt RL

A much changed team (again!) entered the field in damp conditions, the 16 player team were always looking at an upward challenge but were determined to fulfil the season playing every match.

Wolfhunt were out of the gates the quickest, applying pressure to the Elks side, ensuring that Derby were unable to obtain composure and move up the pitch. Every knock on resulted in possession to the home side. Wolfhunt running in 5 converted tries in the first half with half back kicking impeccable from every side of the pitch.

Derby achieved one completed set in the first half and it was going to be difficult to minimise the home sides attack for the remainder of the game.

Sherwood scored a further two tries in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Finally pressure from the Elks saw a generous pass from Centre Charlie Clarke for Oscar Tatham to score an unconverted try in the corner. The whole side grateful that today would not be a pointless result!

Wolfhunt took further command with three tries in 6 minutes to ensure there was no opportunity for the away side to get back into the game.

Every minute of the game the young Elks side continued to try and build on possession and territory however it wasn’t to be but no heads dropped and they continued to plug away.
